NEW REICHEL PUGH RACING YACHT RACES IN INAUGURAL SAILING REGATTA

Cape Town, South Africa: The new racing yacht launched in November last year, the Reichel Pugh 37, produced by the Windsong Racing Yachts Consortium, recently took part in her first sailing regatta, Table Bay Week, in December last year.

Table Bay Week is South Africa’s premier sailing regatta, with Windsong performing exceedingly well, coming second overall in the IRC category. Windsong is due to race again at the Mykonos Regatta on 18 February.

The Reichel Pugh 37 is a new and affordable high performance racing yacht recently introduced to the yachting industry. Destined to be on the winner’s podium at all the international sailing regattas, this racing yacht is now available to order.

The Reichel-Pugh 37 is a super fast, carbon fibre, hi-tech racing yacht especially designed for high performance racing, and yet is dead easy to sail. She boasts an IRC rating of 1.175, with a ballast ratio of close to 60%, and although only 37 feet in length, and weighing only 3500 kilograms, this racing yacht holds her own against the best. Designed by the world-renowned boat designers, Reichel Pugh Yacht Designs and built to the most exacting standards in Cape Town, this high-performance racing yacht is set to take the International yacht racing industry by storm.

The Reichel-Pugh 37 was conceptualised by renowned yachtsman, Geoff Meek. Meek is the skipper for South Africa's America's Cup Challenge Yacht, Shosholoza, currently making waves on the International yachting circuit. Meek has high praise for the RP-37, “The boat sails beautifully both upwind and down. To compete in the Cape Town to Salvadore South Atlantic race in January 2006 will be an absolute pleasure. She is guaranteed to be amongst the much larger boats at the finish with the best chance of a handicap win.”
